The following links will take you to the show you skills videos that you will be asked to perform on the ACA certification exam. Review the videos, open Flash, and recreate the steps you are shown to help you prepare for the skill questions on the exam.

File/Stage

  1. Vector Graphics versus Raster images - In this step you will learn the difference between vector versus raster based graphics.
  2. Create and Save a File - In this step you will create a Flash file using Actionscript 3.0
  3. Workspace Settings - In this step you will learn how to change, reset, create, modify, and delete workspace settings.
  4. Stage Properties - In this step you will learn how to modify the stage size, color, frame rate, units of measurement, and export settings of your Flash file.
  5. Rulers and Guides - create, edit, remove - In this step you will learn how to create rulers and guides, edit them and remove them once they are placed.
  6. Publish Settings - In this step you will learn the different ways to publish your Flash file for different purposes.
  7. File Import to Stage or the Library - In this step you will learn how to import files to the stage or the library. You will need to download the 2 photos of the puppies first to your Flash folder.
    1. Before you start step 7 you will need to download the two photos you see below to your Flash folder.
    2. Right Click the image and choose "Save Image As" option from the drop down menu, navigate to youe Flash folder, and save the images for the lesson.

  8. File Export Movie - In this step you will learn the different ways to export your file.
  9. Color Window - create a custom color and Swatch Window - save a color set - In this step you will learn how to work with color windows to create custom colors and save the colors as swatches.
  10. Use the Properties panel to change an objects transparency/appearence - In this step you will learn how to change an objects appearence and the transparency.
  11. Use the Paint Bucket and Ink Bottle to change fill and stroke colors - In this step you wil learn how to use the paint bucket and the Ink bottle to change fill and stroke colors for an object that has already been created.

Timeline

  1. Create Layers, folders, and delete layers - In this step you will learn how to manipulate layers by creating, naming, deleting, moving, locking/unlocking, and turning the display on/off.
  2. Previewing Animation on the Timeline - In this step you will learn how to preview animations on the timeline.
  3. Create Layer Mask - In this step you will learn how to create a mask layer so that you can change what is dsiplayed of a vector or raster image on the stage.
  4. Trace and Swap Bitmaps - In this step you will learn how to trace bitmaps and swap images within Flash.
  5. Create a Label - In this step you will learn how to create labels within the timeline in Flash.

Symbols

  1. Insert New Symbol - In this step you will learn how to create a new symbol in the library.
  2. Convert to a Symbol - In this step you will learn how to take graphics that you have already created on the stage and turn them into symbols in the library.
  3. Library Symbol Icons - In this step you will learn how to work with symbols in the library and determine which symbols are movie clips, graphics, or buttons.
